Procedures performed by plastic surgeons have shot up 42.5% the past four years, with eyelid surgery replacing liposuction as the most common procedure. All told, plastic surgeons performed more than 17.4 million surgical and non-surgical procedures worldwide last year, according to The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Liposuction remains the most common surgical procedure for women, followed by eyelid surgery and breast augmentation. Botox remains the most common non-surgical procedure for both sexes. The most procedures were performed in the United States (6.1 million), followed by Brazil and Japan.
