AI becomes an indispensable tool for health information

More than 40 million Americans seek daily medical advice on ChatGPT. A report from OpenAI, “AI as a Healthcare Ally,” says that more than 5% of all ChatGPT messages around the world relate to healthcare. One in four of the platform’s approximately 800 million daily users ask a health care related question each week and more than 40 million use it every day. Almost 2 million messages each week involved health insurance. The report notes that 70% of conversations occur outside of normal business hours and use in rural and underserved areas is particularly heavy. Health care professionals also increasingly use AI, and almost half of nurses in the United States say they use it on a weekly basis.
