AI tools have become more popular than social media or online forums for health information, though they still rank well behind search engines and health care professionals as first sources. YouGov says 8% of Americans turned to chatbots for health advice the past three months, with 24% using search engines and 22% turning to medical professionals. The most common reasons for AI use were to understand symptoms and research health conditions, with users citing cost and convenience. AI use was highest among millennials, though a third of all respondents said they believe AI tools offer “no advantages.”
