As health care groups including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Infectious Diseases Society of America battle the CDC and FDA over the agencies’ rollback of Covid-19 vaccines, pharmacy chains CVS and Walgreens are limiting vaccines in some states. A CBS News report says CVS is offering vaccinations without a prescription in 34 states based on state laws. Walgreens says it will offer vaccines in “states where we are able to do so.” The FDA recently approved vaccines for individuals ages 65 and older while narrowing guidelines for younger adults and children. “As we enter respiratory virus season, any barrier to Covid-19 vaccination creates a dangerous vulnerability for children and their families,” American Academy of Pediatrics President Susan J. Kressley, MD, said in a statement.
