Home health care is in, with the FDA approving the first at-home pap smear alternative last May and by the Health Resources and Services administration last week issuing guidelines allowing for a self-swab HPV test. Now, a company in Ireland called Luminate has just raised $21 million to expand home cancer treatment, bringing its total funding to $50 million. Luminate partners with oncologists and health insurers to move cancer drug infusions to the home, noting that research suggests that patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment spend up to three days in the hospital. The company will use the funding to launch access to home cancer care at 40 partner oncology clinics before launching its home infusion therapy technology in mid-2026.
