The Walt Disney Co. and Lucasfilm have settled a lawsuit filed by an actor who alleges she was fired after posting conservative viewpoints on social media. Industry website HR Dive reports that Gina Carano, an actor who played Rebel ranger Cara Dune on The Mandalorian TV series, alleged wrongful termination and discrimination claims after she was fired in 2021 for her social media posts. Elon Musk had said he would support the lawsuit as part of a broader promise to fund legal bills for unfair treatment “due to posting or liking” something on X, the platform Musk bought three years ago. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Carano is a former mixed martial artist who last fought in 2009.
