A company focused on mental health for women has closed an $8 million funding round to accelerate its national expansion. Boston-based FamilyWell Health, founded in 2022 by Dr. Jessica Gaulton, notes that women are twice as likely as men to experience depression and anxiety, and one in three will deal with a mental health condition in their lifetime. The funding will bring the company’s maternal mental health model (including coaching, therapy and psychiatry) to health systems and clinics across the country. The company notes that more than 50 million women navigate perimenopause and menopause, with up to 70% experiencing “significant” mental health issues.
