Women athletes are pushing back against an ad featuring actor Sydney Sweeney, calling it disrespectfully sexualized. In the ad for sports prediction market platform Novig, Sweeney appears with little clothing and sports apparel strategically covering parts of her body. Australian surfer Felicity Palmateer called the campaign “very damaging, especially for young females getting into sport, for females in sport, for females in general, just hypersexualized content,” according to CNN. British sprinter Amy Hunt commented: “Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like. Muscles, hard work, sweat, blood, tears,” in an interview with the BBC on Sunday after finishing fourth in the 200 meters at the Ultimate Championship in Budapest, Hungary.
