FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup most successful in history, according to growth metrics

As women’s sports continues to grow in popularity, the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup — held in Berlin earlier this September — is reporting its most successful run yet. A record-breaking total of 236,015 fans turned out for the 2026 games, surpassing the previous record of 145,519 in 2022. This year’s match between the USA and Italy was also the most streamed women’s basketball game in TNT network history with 1.3 million average viewers.
