Four states seem set to ban trans girls from school sports

Voters in Arizona and Nebraska, and likely Colorado and Washington state approved ballot measures that will restrict transgender girls from participating in girls school sports. While all four bans are structured a little differently — and both Colorado’s and Washington state’s ballot measures have not yet been officially called — these measures were led by conservative groups and were successful during one of the largest wins for liberals in many years. The fact that these bans were approved in states with strong Democratic leadership, including Arizona and Washington, indicates this may be a winning issue for conservatives. Similar legislation is likely to show up in other states.
