At age 19, actor, author and activist Gabrielle Union was sexually assaulted at gunpoint, leading to years of trauma. Now 52, Union has spoken publicly and powerfully about her experience, and is the newest investor in Nema Health, a virtual trauma and PTSD program led and co-founded by Dr. Sofia Noori in 2020. Connecticut-based Nema notes that 80% of people will endure trauma and 30 million will go on to develop PTSD. “Together, we're working to break the silence, reduce stigma and help individuals reclaim their healing and recovery journey," says Union, who will also serve as a strategic adviser. Nema says 95% of patients experience noticeable improvement in PTSD symptoms after completing the company’s treatment program.
