Women taking GLP-1 wight-loss drugs may be 30% less likely to develop breast cancer. A large study from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine says GLP-1 medications are increasingly drawing the attention of cancer researchers, though study authors cautioned that their findings were observational and don’t definitively confirm a link. “It does add to the growing body of evidence suggesting that it’s worth investigating these weight-loss drugs as potential cancer prevention tools”, said Elizabeth MdDonald, MD, PhD, a professor of radiology at Penn’s Pereleman School of Medicine and a practicing radiologist. The study involved more than 110,000 women.
