Only 61% of female high school seniors say they “likely” will choose to get married one day, a significant reversal from 1993 when 83% identified marriage as a priority. Pew Research Center analyzed a University of Michigan study and found that the share of boys interested in getting married (74% today) is relatively unchanged. Both boys and girls are also less interested in having children. Cosmopolitan notes that the study differs from others because of the stark gender gap in the results, adding that young women are socializing with young men who “constantly consume digital content engineered to make them resent women.”
