Forty percent of health care workers say their current role is unsustainable and 25% are actively considering leaving the sector entirely. Employment platform Indeed’s Pulse of Healthcare 2025 report says half of respondents “feel exhausted,” while 36% have negative feelings about their job. Contributing factors include overwork, staffing shortages, pay, emotional fatigue and perceived lack of support from employers. “The nation’s largest employment sector is confronting an escalating workforce crisis,” the report notes, adding that demand for health care workers has spiked 33% since the pandemic. “Working conditions have become so unsustainable that many health care professionals no longer see a future in the field.”
