Twelve congresswomen have banded together after President Donald Trump’s administration charged one of their colleagues with federal crimes. Marie Claire details how the 12 came together after the administration targeted first-term New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver — who faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted — after a confrontation with ICE agents during a congressional visit to a detention facility in her district. The 12 have vehemently supported McIver during her ordeal, with many attending her court hearings. They include national names such as Nancy Pelosi, Ilhan Omar, Jasmine Crockett, Pramila Jayapal and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. “I’m just a Black girl from Newark,” McIver told the publication. “It honestly means nothing to this DOJ, this president, to throw me in jail, let alone find me guilty.”
