Former Union Minister Smriti Irani last week announced a $100 million fund to support women-owned small businesses across India and raised $2 million in only a few days at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Irani created the Alliance for Global Good - Gender Equity and Equality organization in partnership with the Gates Foundation and CII back in 2024 and was the first gender minister to lead an Indian delegation at Davos at the time. Now, she’s pushing for a massive investment in the country’s women and says the initiative could support 100,000 women-owned businesses in the country.
