International Women’s Day 2026 is still almost two months off (March 8) but UN Women is already making a call to action. “As we begin the second quarter of the 21st century,” the organization notes, “no nation has closed the legal gaps between men and women.” The theme of International Women’s Day 2026 — “Rights, Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls” — aims to “dismantle the structural barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls.” UN Women urges the sharing of International Women’s Day stories and messages online, starting now, with the hashtag #ForAllWomenAndGirls.
