The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has released its first guide on menstruation and menopause in the workplace. The guide, titled ISO 45010, aims to help companies identify policies and practices that can reduce stigma and address barriers for the millions of women who experience menstruation- and menopause-related health challenges at work. Awareness of the issue — and expectations for employers — is growing. According to a survey of 6,494 women across seven countries by the British Standards Institution (BSI), 68% of women believe employers have a role in supporting employees experiencing menopause and menstruation-related health issues, while seven in ten want their employer to have a clear process and approach.
