Knownwell raises $25M for obesity treatments

Obesity medicine company knownwell has raised $25 million. The Boston-based company — cofounded by Dr. Angela Fitch and CEO Brooke Boyarsky Pratt — notes that patients living with obesity cost the U.S. health care system more than $260 billion annually. Founded in 2022, knownwell provides physical and virtual medical services geared toward people who are overweight or obese, with an emphasis on compassionate, wholistic care rather than just dieting. “Our model demonstrates that when you treat people with respect and deliver truly evidence-based obesity care, patients engage in unprecedented ways,” Pratt says. Over the last 18 months, knownwell has expanded its hybrid care to Georgia, Illinois and Texas and launched virtual care in all 50 states.
