Lauren Sánchez Bezos helps launch $200M fight to save endangered species

Lauren Sánchez Bezos is helping lead an effort dedicated exclusively to bringing critically endangered species back from the brink of extinction. The Bezos Earth Fund and Re:wild, co-founded by actor Leonardo DiCaprio, have launched the Phoenix Species Project to rebuild entire ecosystems. Each group is dedicating $100 million toward the effort. “Kids fall in love with animals before anyone tells them those animals are disappearing,” says Sánchez Bezos, vice chair of the Earth Fund. “What do we tell them when the night parrot or the golden-crowned sifaka isn’t there anymore to fall in love with? This project is our answer.” The groups call the $200 million fund “the largest philanthropic initiative” of its kind.
