Faith in the public school system continues to erode, as 59% of parents would send their child to a charter or private school if partial funding was available. Only 43% gave their own community’s schools an A or B rating. The 57th annual PDK Poll notes that 20 years ago only about 44% of respondents supported using public funds to provide access to private schools. Other interesting findings: Nearly two-thirds of Americans agree that teacher salaries are inadequate, while the same number oppose eliminating the federal Department of Education, believing it would have a negative impact on public education.
