A new UNESCO gender report highlights significant global progress in increasing girls’ access to education. The share of girls who were married before the age of 18 dropped from 25% in 2000 to 18% in 2025. Several countries have also introduced policies to help pregnant and parenting girls continue their education. UNESCO has partnered with various countries, offering community-based education, literacy programs, and psychosocial support to help girls overcome barriers and pursue their educational goals.
