A Catholic church in Dedham, Massachusetts, has so far defied an order from the Catholic Archdiocese of Boston to remove a Nativity display suggesting that Mary, Joseph and Jesus were detained by ICE. A sign reading “ICE was here” replaces Mary, Joseph and Jesus in the display, according to a report from CBS Boston. St. Susanna Parish Pastor Rev. Stephen Josoma told the outlet that “we’re just making a statement, and I think we got our message out,” adding that “if the circus continues we’ll take it down.” The Archdiocese says the display violates church norms around sacred objects.
