New Barbie athlete dolls celebrate International Day of the Girl

Mattel has unveiled four Barbie dolls honoring four top women rugby players. Called Team Barbie, the dolls feature Ilona Maher (United States), Ellie Kildunne (United Kingdom(, Nassira Konde (France) Portia Woodman-Wickliffe (New Zealand). Mattel has created Barbie dolls for numerous athletes, including tennis star Venus Williams and figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi. The latest batch was released in honor of International Day of the Girl Child on Oct. 11. “Being part of Team Barbie is about showing girls that confidence isn’t something to shy away from,” Maher says, “but something to own." Mattel says the dolls “champion building girls’ confidence.”
