A new book on menopause seeks to give men practical advice to support the women in their lives navigating menopause and perimenopause. Co-authored by Tanya Khan and Darren Brealey, Don’t Be a Dck* offers a behavior-based framework specifically designed to educate and equip male partners. A 2022 survey found that nearly 75% of more than 1,000 women identified menopause as a contributing factor in the breakdown of their relationship. Khan, a certified perimenopause and menopause coach, is in perimenopause herself while Brealey, a playwright, producer and author, shaped the writing to reach men. “This isn’t theoretical,” Khan says. “I trained in this, I’m living it, and I still watched it strain my own world. Too often, the partner is left out entirely, and the relationship takes a hit nobody planned for.”
