The Pentagon has initiated a six-month review of women serving in combat positions just months after Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced new mandates around combat readiness and military fitness. Stars and Stripes reports that the department is requiring Army and Marine Corps leaders to provide data on “the readiness, training, performance, casualties and command climate of ground combat units of personnel,” adding that the branches much provide points of contact by Jan. 15. It is also calling for any internal studies the branches might have. News reports note that Hegseth was critical of woman in combat positions while working at Fox News.
