Holiday travel is projected to reach an all-time high this season, as AAA projects 122.4 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home beginning Dec. 20. The forecast is a 2.2% increase from last year. About 90% will travel by car, more than 8 million will fly and many will take a cruise, with AAA noting that the category has notched a 25% increase since 2019 because of record-setting demand for cruises post-pandemic. Unsurprisingly, top year-end destinations are in sunny climates, with Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Miami topping the list of domestic travel. Cancun, Mexico; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Cozumel, Mexico, are the most preferred international cities.
