More Boomer women play video games than Boomer men. The Entertainment Software Association’s 2026 report notes that 52% of women between the ages of 62 and 80 play games, compared to 47% of men. That’s the only demographic where women gamers outnumber men, though the gender of all players is split fairly evenly, with 53% of all men and 46% of all women actively playing. More than 212 million Americans play video games every week, while two-thirds (ages 5 to 90) now play at least one hour per week. “Video games have become a powerful cultural force,” Entertainment Software Association President Stanley Pierre-Louis says.
