Trump administration threatens states over sex-ed materials

The Trump administration is threatening to withhold federal funding to 46 states and territories unless they remove all references to gender ideology from educational materials within 60 days. The Administration for Children and Families last month terminated California’s federally funded $12 million Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) grant after the state “failed” to remove gender ideology from its sex-ed materials. The state had argued that gender ideology was medically accurate. Total funding cuts to the 46 states and territories would exceed more than $81 million — at slightly more than $6 million, New York stands to lose the most. A release calls the action the administration’s “ongoing commitment to protecting children from attempts to indoctrinate them with delusional ideology.”
