Just 28% of Americans have significant trust in the media, according to Gallup, marking an all-time low. While 70% report little or no confidence, only 8% of Republicans and 51% of Democrats trust news outlets, both record lows. The overall measure has now fallen below 30% for the first time. Media confidence remains higher among older adults, though it’s still declining among those aged 65 and older. “With confidence fractured along partisan and generational lines,” Gallup notes, “the challenge for news organizations is not only to deliver fair and accurate reporting but also to regain credibility across an increasingly polarized and skeptical public.
