The U.S. Olympic women’s hockey team won’t attend President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. The women’s and men’s teams, which both won historic golds at the Milan Cortina Games, were each invited to Tuesday night’s speech. While addressing the men’s team over speakerphone in its Olympic locker room, Trump offered to fly the team to Washington, D.C., on a military plane, adding, “We’re gonna have to bring the women’s team — you do know that.” A spokesperson for the women’s team expressed gratitude for the invitation and recognition, but said the athletes are unable to attend due to “previously scheduled academic and professional commitments following the Games.”
