With the global economy losing billions as women exit the technology sector, the UK is taking a high-stakes swing at closing the gender gap. Technology Secretary Liz Kendall officially launched the Women in Tech Taskforce this week, appointing Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon, founder of Stemettes, as the nation's new Women in Tech Envoy. The group includes heavy hitters like BT Group CEO Allison Kirkby and Revolut UK CEO Francesca Carlesi. The mission: dismantle the systemic barriers that currently lead to women receiving nearly 6 times less funding for startups than men, despite delivering 35% higher returns on investment.
