Six women have filed a lawsuit against dating apps Hinge and Tinder for continuing to recommend a rapist to women in Denver. The man, former cardiologist Stephen Matthews, was sentenced to 158 years in prison last year after being convicted on rape charges linked to women he met on dating apps, according to Denver’s Fox31. The lawsuit says Matthews continued to appear in match suggestions even after numerous women lodged complaints against him. The women are seeking economic damages, including for physical injuries, emotional distress and psychological harm. Hinge and Tinder parent company Match Group told the station it is “committed to strengthening” its safeguards.
