Women in their later stage of life are increasingly turning to women-only fitness studios. This trend is not entirely new, as women-only gyms gained popularity in the 1990s and early 2000s, with successful franchises such as Curves and Slender Lady. Although these models largely faded by 2010, a new generation of women entrepreneurs are bringing the concept back, bringing weightlifting and exercise programs tailored to different stages of women’s lives. Research found that many women feel self-conscious at traditional gyms, particularly when faced with unsolicited comments from men.
