There’s a huge disconnect between what women across the United States say they need and how close they are to achieving it. More than 90% consider their mental health to be highly important, yet only 35% rate it as excellent or very good. A survey by Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America also finds that approximately 70% identify as the primary financial decision-maker in their household. Only 26%, however, say their finances are in a healthy condition and almost half worry they don’t have enough savings to cover an emergency. “I love my kid. I love my homelife. I love my job,” says a woman identified only as Amanda. “But it’s hard to love them all at the same time.” The report urges policies and programs that support women’s holistic wellness.
