Young women far less likely than men to feel proud of America

Young American women and young American men have very different feelings when it comes to pride in their country, according to new research from American University's Sine Institute. The fifth annual study focuses on how Americans between the ages of 18 and 34 view politics, policy, identity and more. When asked whether they feel proud of the country as it is today, 80% of women surveyed said they don’t feel proud, as opposed to 60% of men. When asked whether they’re proud to be an American, only 48% of women said they were proud, vs. 71% of men. Among both genders, a majority of respondents chose words such as "broken," "divided," "polarized" and "chaotic" to describe the state of the nation.
