Callaway Golf, the California company that makes clubs, balls and gear, has apologized, for the second time, for a marketing video that showed a man pushing a woman to the ground when she reached for his driver. The video, promoting a new Callaway driver developed with Good Good Golf, was posted Friday and quickly deleted following a media backlash, with more than 133,000 reactions on Callaway’s Instagram page alone. Good Good Golf and Callaway’s CEO, Chip Brewer, posted apologizes Saturday, followed by a second round of apologies Tuesday. Good Good CEO Matt Kendrick said the video was meant to be a parody of the movie Obsession, but missed the mark. Golf Digest notes that the controversy may call into question Good Good’s relationship with the PGA tour.
