The fight over a stockpile of contraceptives worth $9.7 million is dragging on. The Trump administration wanted to burn the supplies, which were originally intended to be distributed to women overseas through the now-defunct USAID. The contraceptives are currently stuck in limbo: they’re sitting in two Belgian warehouses, spared from fiery destruction because the country prohibits the incineration of reusable medical devices. Aid workers say the Trump administration may now try to run down the clock on the contraceptives’ expiration dates until they’re rendered unusable or unable to be exported.
