Deloitte has partnered with tennis icon Billie Jean King to grow future leaders in women’s sports. Deloitte notes that global revenue in women’s sports is expected to reach $3 billion in 2026, though girls drop out of sports at nearly twice the rate of boys, with almost half quitting during adolescence around ages 13 or 14. Women coach only 41% of women’s teams, down from 90% in 1972, the year King won the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. The initiative seeks to grow strong leaders through sports and connect key players across the marketplace. “My generation’s job is to support those who follow in our footsteps,” King says.
