Ex-Mayo Clinic director alleges firing following AI warnings

Former Mayo Clinic Research Director Traci Tamiko Eto, MA, has filed a lawsuit in Minnesota alleging that she was fired in retaliation for speaking out against the company’s “rushed AI adoption” while she was on medical leave, according to an article in trade publication HealthExec. The article quotes her lawyer, HKM lawyer, Artur David, JD, in a press release that says, “The Mayo Clinic made a deliberate choice to put profit first, over patient privacy, and in one egregious instance, patient safety.” It says Eto, who was hired in 2023, first expressed her concerns in February 2025. She was terminated last December.
