Fifty-five women lead Fortune 500 companies, an all-time high. The Fortune 500, released June 3, notes that 11% of companies are now led by women, including Fortune’s Most Powerful Woman, Jane Fraser of Citigroup (the company ranks No. 24 on the list). Other women include Mary Barra of General Motors (No. 23); Tricia Griffth of Progressive (No. 51); and Phebe Novakovic of General Dynamics (No. 91). The highest-ranked company run by a woman is Elevance Health, which ranked No. 18 and has been led by Gail Boudreaux since 2017. Amazon surpassed Walmart to take the No. 1 slot, ending the latter’s 13-year reign in the top spot.
