France has initiated formal proceedings to suspend the website of Chinese e-commerce fast-fashion retailer Shein after discovering sex-dolls with childlike appearances and other illegal listings on the site. The measure was ordered by the Prime Minister and announced by the Finance Ministry, emphasizing that the platform must demonstrate that all its content meets French legal standards. Shein has said it will cooperate with authorities and has temporarily suspended certain categories of sales in the country. Shein was set to open its first physical store in Paris yesterday amid protests over concerns about cheap, labor environmental impact and human rights.
