GLP-1 users continue to dine at restaurants, but their ordering habits are changing. New research from Circana LLC says users of the popular weight-loss drugs are order fewer items, particularly sides, snacks and breads. They’re also veering toward healthier foods, with 63% actively seeking more vegetables and 55% ordering more fruit. Smoothies are a top growing category, as are lighter options. Alcohol is increasingly out, “presenting an opportunity for full-service restaurants” to promote non-alcoholic alternatives. “With GLP-1 usage, the biggest change to restaurants won’t be that consumers stop going out to eat,” says Circana Vice President David Portalatin. “It will be how they go out to eat and what they order.” GLP-1 users are projected to represent 35% of food and beverage sales by 2030.
