Larger companies embrace AI. Smaller ones, not so much.

Companies with at least 250 employees are the biggest users of AI. The U.S. Census Bureau examined six months of recent data and found that firms with at least 250 employees reported using AI as part of their company’s daily operations. Overall, AI use hovered between 17% and 20% among all companies, with that number expected to rise in the next six months. Smaller companies — those with fewer than 20 employees — used AI the least. Information technology, finance and insurance companies are the heaviest users, while only 14% of retail companies use AI.
