The vast majority of women serving in Marine Corps combat roles have met the service’s new sex-neutral physical fitness standard, according to Marine Corps data analyzed by The War Horse. Since January, when the new standards went into effect, 91.38% of women and 96.53% of men in combat arms who took the annual physical fitness test scored at least 210 out of 300 points, the minimum required. The annual physical fitness test involves a three-mile run, a choice between pushups or pullups and an abdominal plank. The test was scored using sex- and age-based standards until Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directed the military to adopt sex-neutral standards for troops in combat roles last year.
