A pro basketball player has criticized another team’s planned celebration of a local strip club. San Antonio Spurs center Luke Kornet criticized the Atlanta Hawks for announcing a promotion honoring adult entertainment venue Magic City and asked them to cancel it. “The NBA should desire to protect and esteem women,” Kornet wrote on Medium. “We should promote an atmosphere that is protective and respectful of the daughters, wives, sisters, mothers and partners that we know and love.” In announcing the March 16 promotion, the Hawks called Magic City “an iconic cultural institution.” Other media outlets reported that Kornet is the only player to have publicly spoken out.
