What you probably already know: If you’re like most people, you’re gearing up for at least some travel over the coming holiday season, which is rapidly approaching. We are now less than 90 days until Christmas and 62 days until Thanksgiving. Google recently put out a report looking at the top-searched travel destinations during the key winter holidays, which means you can take some tips from the masses, or avoid them entirely.

Where? Top Thanksgiving destinations include Orlando, Cancun, New York, Tokyo and London, and there are more U.S. cities on the list than there are for the Christmas holidays. There are a few surprising spots on the Thanksgiving list, though, such as Bangkok, Mumbai and Punta Cana. When it comes to Christmas and New Year’s Eve, it looks like many people are seeking tropical climates. While Tokyo is first on the list, Orlando, Cancun and Miami round out the top four, while San Juan and Honolulu also make the list.

What it means: Google offers a few tips on when to book your holiday travel, as well. For domestic flights in the U.S.. prices tend to be lowest about 38-45 days before departure and for international flights, prices are lowest 101 days before you take off, which means you’ve already missed the window for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. But, Google says, as long as you’re more than 50 days before departure, you can still find international deals.

What happens now? If you miss the window for holiday travel, Spring Break isn’t far away, and Google suggests booking flights for March or April travel about 44 days before departure to get the best deals. For European travel, look about 94 days out. And airlines have apparently gotten wise to the fact that many of us will pay extra for a nonstop flight. Prices for nonstop travel have jumped 25% than flights with layovers.
