Oprah Winfrey is moving her media empire to Amazon. The company and Winfrey’s Harpo Entertainment have signed a multi-year deal that includes rights to the Oprah Podcast, Oprah’s Book Club, Oprah’s Favorite Things and The Oprah Winfrey Show library. Starting in July, podcast network and studio Wondery will distribute The Oprah Podcast across Amazon, including Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV channels and Audible. Amazon has made a calculated play across streaming, audio, ads and shopping in recent years, and now offers entertainment options featuring shows involving Jason and Travis Kelce, Keke Palmer, Dax Shepard and others. “Expanding our reach globally is an opportunity I embrace,” Winfrey says, “as we continue to connect through stories that invite new ways of seeing and, hopefully, deepen understanding.”
