The first wearable device designed to detect and interpret perimenopause symptoms just hit the market. Dublin, Ireland-based femtech company Peri (previously known as IdentifyHer) says the sensor tracks physiological signals and delivers insights into perimenopausal challenges including anxiety, hot flashes, sleep disruption and night sweats. The company notes that 75% of perimenopausal women experience symptoms that health care providers “often dismiss,” noting that 70% of women who seek clinical help for symptoms receive none. More than eight in 10 say doctors don’t believe them. “Perimenopause is treated like a mystery or inevitability that women simply have to ‘power through,’” says Cofounder and CEO Heidi Davis. “We reject this.” The device retails for $449.
