Supermajority, a women’s political advocacy group launched in 2019 to make “women the most powerful voting bloc in the country,” is shutting down. The group says it is instead encouraging its 530,000 members, volunteers and leaders to get involved with local, community-oriented groups, including the ACLU, to create more immediate change. “In 2019, women were looking for a national political home,” the group says. “Today, they are hungry for local community building to drive on-the-ground impact.” The group, which has its roots following the 2016 election of Donald Trump, vows to continue to seek out additional partners to direct members toward continuing their activism, calling the shift is “responsible stewardship.”
